Madupetty Dam, located near Munnar in Idukki District, is a magnetic rock storage dam built in the mountains of Kerala, India, to save water for power generation. It has been an important source of electricity and a huge income for the Idukki district. There is abundant water throughout the year for wildlife and birds to thrive. The Taluk rivers through which the water flows are Udumpanchola, Devikulam, Kothamangalam, Muvattupuzha, Kunnathunadu, Aluva, Kodungalloor and Paravur. Mattupetty Dam is a rock reservoir that now serves as a sanctuary for many wild animals and birds due to its continuous water supply. Boating on the tranquil lake is the best way to admire the stream surroundings and forest.
